To promote regional growth, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) Malaysia and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) have formally signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
Through thought leadership and research, the MoU which covers policy advocacy, sustainability, and capacity building is expected to promote public-private discourse and improve a business-friendly environment. It offers a cohesive approach to cooperation, opening the door for coordinated initiatives that will help ASEAN achieve its objectives for sustainability, human capital development, and economic integration.
“Our MoU with ACCA inked today, centres on delivering tangible projects with measurable impact across economic integration, human capital development and sustainability initiatives.” ASEAN-BAC chair Tan Sri Nazir Razak said.
Through this cooperation, both organizations will have a cooperative framework to promote sustainable finance, green investment, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) integration across the area. The collaboration will also concentrate on expanding access to financial literacy training, ongoing professional development initiatives, and professional certifications.
By looking into mutual recognition agreements, the partnership also seeks to improve professional standards and ease personnel mobility throughout ASEAN. The ACCA has pledged to support ASEAN-BAC Malaysia's sustainability and digital transformation activities as the country gets ready to serve as ASEAN Chairman in 2025.
