Lazada Teams Up with Gmarket to Bring Korean Products to SEA

Lazada has announced a strategic partnership with South Korea’s leading e-commerce marketplace, Gmarket, to bring 20 million Korean products to shoppers across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam, starting September 29.

This collaboration builds on the joint venture between Shinsegae Group and Alibaba Group, aimed at helping Korean sellers expand their international footprint.

Through this partnership, Southeast Asian consumers will gain access to a wide range of Korean brands, including popular names like Sulwahsoo, d’Alba, Mediheal, COSRX, Skinfood, and Laneige.

Lazada will offer localized product listings, cross-border delivery, and after-sales services, all managed in collaboration with Gmarket to ensure a seamless shopping experience.

The move is significant in light of regional e-commerce trends. According to Momentum Works, brand-driven sales account for less than 30 percent of Southeast Asia’s e-commerce market, compared with over 50 percent in China, indicating substantial growth potential for branded products in the region. Lazada’s virtual mall, LazMall, has already seen success, recording nearly 30 percent year-on-year growth in average order value during its recent 9.9 sale.
