LG CNS, the IT solutions division of South Korea's LG Group, has unveiled plans to construct a Won 100 billion (USD 72 million) AI-oriented data center in Jakarta, Indonesia, the first cross-border AI data center project by a Korean firm.
The 11 story, 46,281 square meter data center will be developed through a joint venture with Sinar Mas Group, Indonesia's third-largest conglomerate, through their newly established subsidiary, LG Sinarmas Technology Solutions.
Construction will be finished by the end of 2026. The data center will initially handle 30 megawatts of power, expandable to 220 megawatts, making it Indonesia's largest AI data center.

“The project is part of an overall plan to meet growing demand for AI computational power in Southeast Asia. Leveraging on this project, LG CNS hopes to expand our AI data center business throughout Southeast Asia, including Singapore and Malaysia," said Hyun Shin-Kyun CEO of LG CNS.

It will have cutting-edge infrastructure, including GPU farms, hybrid cooling systems, and green HVAC technology. Tenants will enjoy network neutrality, which will allow carrier flexibility. Its location in the heart of Jakarta offers strategic access to national networks and undersea cable systems, making it a potential future regional digital hub.
Sinar Mas selected LG CNS for its technical expertise and three decades of experience. "LG CNS's consulting and design strengths played an important role in clinching the massive project," a Sinar Mas spokesperson said. The company also intends to use integrated solutions from LG affiliates to increase efficiency and sustainability.
