The technology giant Meta and Vietnam have collaborated to boost their digital economy. The partnership aims to achieve 20 percent of Vietnam's GDP within five years. Under this partnership support for small and medium-sized enterprises and education of advanced digital infrastructure will be provided.
Previously Meta had played a significant role in disseminating accurate information to the public of Vietnam. With Meta's advertising credits, the company helped the Vietnam Government Portal and the Ministry of Health to gain a significant amount of followers. The Vietnam Government Portal page alone saw a spike of over 2.7 million followers, by the end of the year the page had a total followers of 3.1 million. The vaccination campaign of the government gained over 600,000 interactions, with 116 million impressions, and 40 million views, with Meta's help.
The role of Meta in uplifting Vietnamese women's business also has been significant. In 2021, under the company's #SheMeansBusiness initiative many women-owned businesses were trained to adapt to technology for the progress of business. Both beneficiaries are also supporting for nation's digital transformation by launching the Vietnam Innovation Challenge. This annual competition aims at sourcing global solutions for the nation's digital transformation.
The future vision of Meta, includes the forecast of Vietnam being the digital economy leader. With this partnership and support provided by Meta, more youth knowledge, the creation of an innovative workforce and digital advanced government will be created. To create a digital economy, an establishment of expertise combining both Vietnamese and US companies is important. Therefore investment and collaboration of the same has been proposed as one of the important strategies.
Through these concerted efforts, Meta is not only aiding Vietnam's economic recovery from the pandemic but also laying the groundwork for a robust, digitally-driven future.
