Baker Hughes and Petronas inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to pursue strategic energy development of initiatives driving Asia's energy growth and transition. The partnership targets reinforcing local supply chains and evaluating technologies in upstream and downstream oil and gas, enhanced LNG services, digital solutions such as AI, sustainable energy including carbon capture, and biofuels for turbomachinery.
Under the initiative, Baker Hughes intends to increase its service presence in Malaysia by creating a complete aeroderivative gas turbine module repair center. The center will undertake disassembly, assembly, grinding, and testing—looking to enhance turnaround and strengthen regional customer service. Malaysia is already home to more than 600 installed gas turbines, thereby becoming a key location for such investment.
