Reliance New Suntech Private Limited, the subsidiary company of Reliance Power which was led by Anil Ambani has signed a 25-year long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for the solar power supply backed by battery storage. This will be Asia’s largest single-site integrated solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) project.
The Reliance NU Suntech will be taking the responsibility of developing this project. The solar capacity of this project is said to be 930 megawatt (MW) solar power capacity which will be paired with a 464 MW/1,860 megawatt per hour. The fixed tariff by BESS stands at Rs. 3.53 per kilowatt per hour.
The company has stated, “This agreement represents one of the most significant long-term power offtake arrangements in India to date, marking a major milestone in the nation’s transition to clean energy.”
This gigantic project is expected to be commissioned within the next 24 months with a capital investment involving up to Rs. 10,000 crores. Through this project, a 1,700 MWp of solar production capacity is built to achieve the project's 930 MW capacity.
This has become a major achievement as clean energy signifies a change in the direction of sustainability. One of the statements highlighted that this particular strategic agreement will be one of the significant long-term power purchase arrangements in India made to date.
