SentinelOne, a leading US-based cybersecurity firm, is acquiring Prompt Security, an Israeli cybersecurity startup, in a deal estimated at US$250 million.
Founded in August 2023 by Itamar Golan and Lior Drihem, Prompt Security develops AI-native cybersecurity solutions focused on safeguarding enterprise interactions with AI tools. Its platform is designed to detect data leaks, block malicious content, and neutralize AI-specific threats in real time. Prompt’s rapid exit—achieved in under two years after raising only US$23 million from investors including Hetz Ventures, Jump Capital, Okta, and F5—reflects the ongoing demand for cutting-edge security platforms as AI adoption increases.
Key Highlights
This deal underscores a broader industry trend: cybersecurity firms are increasingly acquiring specialized startups to augment their platforms with AI-driven capabilities, instead of developing them internally. Since 2018, the industry has witnessed an acceleration in billion-dollar cybersecurity exits, highlighting investor confidence in scalable, threat-specific solutions.
SentinelOne’s move fits within a decade-long shift from fragmented security products to integrated platforms. Similar to historic acquisitions such as Intel-McAfee and Microsoft’s sweeping M&A activity, this transaction is aimed at rapidly expanding core competencies to address emerging threat vectors without waiting for internal development cycles.
