Leading foreign exchange company Travelex has launched its Same Rate Guarantee at Changi Airport, guaranteeing customers the ability to sell leftover currency back to Travelex for the same rate they bought it.
Travelex’s Same Rate Guarantee allows customers at Changi Airport to sell back their currency to Travelex at the original exchange rate they purchased it for, up to the full value of the original transaction, for just an additional S$10. The Same Rate Guarantee covers all major currencies available for exchange at Travelex’s Changi stores, and is valid for 21 days from the original purchase date.
Travelex’s Same Rate Guarantee, which is already available in the UK, benefits customers so they can travel with more cash, allowing them to rely less on bank cards for international purchases, while also protecting customers from any market volatility on exchange rates.

The initiative also encourages travellers to return unused foreign currency back into circulation, addressing the issue of billions of dollars’ worth of leftover travel money sitting in homes worldwide. In the UK alone, it is estimated households have the equivalent of more than S$4.67b of leftover currency - or S$135 per holidaymaker, while Australian holidaymakers are estimated to be sitting on the equivalent of S$840 million in foreign currency.
Batu Dölay, Managing Director, Travelex Middle East, Türkiye and South-East Asia, said: “Holidaymakers often put off selling their unused travel money due to variable exchange rates. With our Same Rate Guarantee, Travelex is offering customers the peace of mind to travel and spend as they wish, knowing they can sell back their original currency at the same rates. We’re delighted to be launching this scheme at Changi Airport, where we’ve had a strong presence for more than a decade. We have stores located across arrivals, departures, and the transit area, allowing customers to access our Same Rate Guarantee at a location that suits them.”
Changi Airport is consistently rated The World’s Best Airport by Skytrax and is one of Southeast Asia’s largest transport hubs. In 2024, the airport welcomed 67.7 million passengers, a 15% increase on the previous year. Travelex first entered the airport in 2016, and currently operates from 15 locations across arrivals, departures, and the transit area.
