Vingroup Seeks $500M Loan to Expand EV Charging Network

Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup is reportedly in talks to secure a US$500 million private credit loan to expand its electric vehicle (EV) charging network across Southeast Asia.

The discussions with private credit funds began in late September 2025, with the potential loan expected to carry an interest rate of around 10 percent or less.

This move aligns with Vingroup’s growing focus on EV infrastructure through V-Green, a subsidiary founded by chairman Pham Nhat Vuong, who also established VinFast Auto, Vietnam’s leading EV manufacturer. V-Green, which is 90 percent owned by Vuong, was created last year to accelerate the rollout of EV charging stations across Vietnam and the broader region.

The company plans to co-invest US$300 million with four partner firms to develop a large-scale charging network in Indonesia, marking its first major international infrastructure venture.

Vingroup and its subsidiaries have been actively raising funds to support expansion and innovation. In July 2025, the conglomerate secured a US$510 million private credit facility, followed by a US$150 million loan for VinFast Auto from Barclays in September 2025.

While Vingroup has not commented directly on the new loan discussions, it emphasized that it regularly explores diverse funding avenues to accelerate the growth of its EV ecosystem and charging infrastructure, positioning itself as a key player in Southeast Asia’s clean mobility transition.
