As Southeast Asia's second most populous nation, the Philippines has recently witnessed a heightened demand for power and energy sectors due to increased urbanization and recent countrywide infrastructure development. Also, with the Malampaya natural gas fields that cater to a significant portion of the nation's energy consumption stipulated to be depleted by 2045-25, the Philippine government has been very much proactive in encouraging the shift towards renewable energy sources and has even envisioned increasing its renewable energy share to 35 percent by 2030 and 50 percent by 2050. Supporting the government in this ambitious venture are numerous renewable energy companies under the able guidance and leadership of experienced minds such as Mike M. Consenheim, President & CEO, SolarNRG Philippines.
Having completed his bachelor's degree in International Business and master's degree in Strategic Management from Tilburg University in the Netherlands, Mike boasts of a successful career spanning over 14 years handling diverse roles & functions, of which 10 years have been in the energy sector. Along with being one of the founding members of SolarNRG Philippines, he has also served as the Board of Trustees Officer with the Philippines-Netherlands Business Council and even cofounded the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines.
Bringing Affordable Energy Solutions to the Philippines
Witnessing the exorbitant electricity rates in the Philippines, SolarNRG Philippines was started in 2014 by SolarNRG Group in partnership with Jater Development Corporation with a vision to leverage its expertise in the photovoltaic systems area and promote the growth & usage of solar energy in the Philippine market. Today, the company has earned the reputation of being among the most reputed and sought-after providers of solar energy solutions & services mainly across commercial and industrial projects in the Philippines.
SolarNRG Philippines has installed over 60MW of solar systems across the Philippines, producing over 360,000MW of green energy over the last 10 years. To create a conducive environment for businesses to shift towards solar energy sources, it has partnered with numerous financial companies to help organizations easily sign power purchase agreements and go solar without any hassles.
As the CEO of SolarNRG Philippines, Mike oversees all the departments, guiding them in the right direction and keeping them all aligned toward achieving the overall organizational objectives. "At SolarNRG Philippines, we are on a mission to revolutionize the industrial and commercial sectors by supplying a range of solar panel solutions that not only meet the energy needs of businesses across diverse industries but also minimize their environmental impact and cut down energy costs.
Our solar panels are built using the latest technology and highest-quality components to ensure maximum efficiency, reliability, and longevity", says Mike.
Secret Mantra for Successful Leadership
Unlike other executives who see competition in the industry as a major challenge that they must always overcome, Mike views it as a healthy challenge that incentivizes businesses to stay sharp, competitive, and cost-efficient for their clients. An ardent believer that client satisfaction levels are directly proportional to the business' reputation in the market, he always strives to adopt a customer-centric approach across all processes and solve their challenges professionally.
Thus, he ensures that constant communication and reporting are in place across the organization to manage and address all stakeholder expectations successfully. Some of the key principles that Mike practices daily and have played a pivotal role in his success so far are honesty, integrity, responsibility, and accountability toward all stakeholders.
"For any CEO, managing growth and striking the right balance between various departments of business is always a herculean task, and the same has been the case with me as well. To overcome this, I always try to identify bottlenecks, understand their root cause, and not just solve but continually improve the process to achieve sustainable business growth. Most importantly, I gather inputs from my partners as well as managers & team members of all levels across all departments to facilitate efficient and innovative problem solving", Mike explains further.

He also envisions establishing at least 500 MW of solar utility projects in the Philippines over the next 3-5 years and driving solar power generation in the Philippines. Most importantly, Mike aspires to position SolarNRG Philippines as one of the Philippines' largest and most reputed solar companies.
Sharing his piece of advice for aspiring entrepreneurs, Mike says, "Every entrepreneur must remember that they have to go through bad times to enjoy the good times. Also, it's all about perseverance and believing in oneself, even when everyone else loses hope in you. Most importantly, clarify why you're doing what you're doing, hold your ground no matter what, and continue working towards achieving your goals”.
