Agoda, the International travel booking application has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Tourism Indonesia. The newly signed MOU highlights the technological determinism in traveling under the Tourism 4.0 vision.
According to MOU’s Tourism 4.0 vision, both Agoda and the Tourism Ministry will be utilizing the technology as the major tool to increase tourism in Indonesia, both domestically and internationally. The collaboration signifies joint initiatives for the next three years which involves targeted marketing campaigns, eco-tourism and technological empowerment for Indonesia’s young tourism professionals.
Agoda has initiated an Agoda Academy workshop, under which students at Bandung Tourism Polytechnic were trained in digital tourism skills. The workshop also facilitated in understanding the work culture of Agoda through operational work cases studies.
Senior Country Director of Agoda International Indonesia, Gede Gunawan highlighted the career pathways and understanding of digital trends in the sector, by stating “I am pleased to deepen our collaboration with the Tourism Ministry beyond marketing initiatives. By renewing our collaboration, we’re also excited to support the Ministry’s vision of Tourism 4.0 with Agoda’s expertise in digital solutions. This partnership reinforces our shared commitment to seeing Indonesia thrive as a destination while enabling local communities to benefit from the many opportunities tourism generates around local economies.”
Bayu Aji, the Chief Secretary of Ministry of Tourism expressed his excitement of the new MOU by stating, “we are delighted to expand our partnership with Agoda, as it not only strengthens Indonesia’s standing as a vibrant and more sustainable tourism destination, but will also help equip our workforce in the tourism sector for the future through initiatives such as the Agoda Academy Workshop.”
Previously, Agoda and the Tourism ministry had collaborated for several campaigns. This partnership between both will be aimed to achieve growth across all regions of the market.
