US President Donald Trump's visit to West Asia has gained attention to the new deals and increased defense deals between nations. On Wednesday, the US president revealed the news about the latest commercial and defense deals set up with Qatar. The main highlight of this revelation is the USD 96 billion wroth order for Boeing aircraft done by Qatar Airways.
The USD 96 billion order is given the credit of being the largest deal in Boeing Aircraft's history. A bilateral meeting has been held between Trump and Qatari Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha, to seal the deal by signing agreements. This agreement involved the terms and conditions for both nations' partnership in terms of aviation, defense and strategic cooperation.
Whitehouse stated on Wednesday, “Today in Qatar, President Donald J. Trump signed an agreement with Qatar to generate an economic exchange worth at least USD 1.2 trillion. President Trump also announced an economic deal totaling more than USD 243.5 billion between the United States and Qatar, including a historic sale of Boeing aircraft and GE Aerospace engines to Qatar Airways.”
The highlight of the agreement was the deal with Boeing jets. Under this agreement, Qatar has ordered 160 jetliners with 50 more to be bought in the future. White House has clarified that the order involves the purchase of 130 787s planes and 30 777X planes. The manufacturing of the Boeing aircrafts has been started, but the new versions of 787s and 777X. But the delivery of this manufactured planes will start from the year 2026.
