EIB Global, the extension of the European Investment Bank (EIB), has signed a memorandum of association (MoU) with Kazakhstan Housing Company. This partnership has been made to increase the efficient sustainable housing in Kazakhstan.
The EU-Central Asia summit which was held in April has inspired this MoU. In this summit, many of the government leaders pledged to strengthen the ties between the two regions. One of the major points discussed in this summit was to increase the sustainable development in Central Asia, supported by effective strategic funding.
Vice President of EIB, Kyriacos Kakouris who was present at the signing event said, “We will work closely with Kazakhstan Housing Company to explore financing opportunities for housing projects that meet high energy-efficiency standards. The agreement reflects a commitment by the European Union and the bank to deepening our strategic partnership with Central Asia.” This international partnership will contribute to Kazakhstan's regional sustainable policies.
Chairman of the management board of Kazakhstan Housing Company, Altay Kuzdibayev said, “Improving people’s quality of life and developing a modern, comfortable urban environment are the key priorities of Kazakhstan Housing Company. Signing a memorandum with EIB Global is an important step in the implementation of long-term international cooperation initiatives that are in line with both national priorities and global climate challenges.”
This new partnership has provided a new sustainable future for Kazakhstan. Both parties are aiming to contribute to the standard housing of sustainable and energy-efficient housing projects in Kazakhstan.
According to the available information, this new initiative has been part of the FELICIT II Cities Advisory Facility. Which is jointly undertaken by EIB and the German development agency Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). This partnership is also supported by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
