IndiGo, India's biggest airline, and AEGEAN, Greece's flag carrier, announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for an alliance of strategic codeshare to increase connectivity between India, Greece, and Europe.
The agreement is expected to offer hassle-free travel experiences and improved flight connections across both carriers' networks subject to the required regulatory approvals.
The partnership will have AEGEAN's "A3" code added to a large number of points on IndiGo's extensive domestic and South Asian system. At the same time, IndiGo's "6E" code will be on AEGEAN's domestic and European services, providing Indian travelers easier access to points across Greece and Europe through Athens.
Key highlights:
"These collaborations allow our customers to easily make seamless trips on a larger, connected network across both airlines. We look forward to partnering with AEGEAN to serve growing international air travel demand and strengthen business connections between the two countries." said Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo.
Eftichios Vassilakis Chairman of AEGEAN further added, "This agreement extends AEGEAN's reach outside of Europe to one of the world's most vibrant markets. We welcome new opportunities for cultural, business, and tourist exchanges."
