Jordan's King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein started a two-day state visit to Kazakhstan on Aug. 26 at the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The visit is a new era in the development of political dialogue and the expansion of strategic cooperation between the two countries, Kazinform news agency reports.
Astana talks are to center on the launch of common projects in energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, digitalization, education, logistics, and tourism based on agreements during Tokayev's previous visit to Amman.
The leaders will also share concerns over regional and international security, paying specific attention to Middle East stabilization efforts as well as closer cooperation in international organizations.
Key Highlights:
Among the major highlights is the Kazakhstan–Jordan Business Forum, where close to 300 investors and entrepreneurs are to gather. "This forum will be a launching point for new projects and stronger trade and investment relations," said a Kazakh official before the event.
A number of agreements are anticipated to include Kazakh wheat shipments to Jordan, Jordanian Aljazeera Agricultural's poultry reproduction center, and a pharma distribution agreement between Jordan's Sana Farm and Inkar Group of Kazakhstan. Veterinary science, IT start-ups, higher education, and peaceful nuclear energy will also be developed through mutual cooperation.
