Hospitality technology company OYO, based out of India, has introduced its luxury hotel brand, SUNDAY Hotels in Malaysia by opening two hotels in Kuala Lumpur and Pantai Cenang, Langkawi.
The ongoing expansion marks the beginning of an enhanced entry into the premium hospitality sector in Southeast Asia, with the proposal to launch ten more SUNDAY Hotels in Malaysia in 2025. The destinations to be expanded are the prime tourist spots such as Johor Bahru, Penang Island, Kuantan, and Kota Kinabalu. SUNDAY brand was established in May 2023 in India as a joint venture between SoftBank and Oravel Stays; it has three properties in India and is projected to have 25 by March 2025.
As a luxury product, SUNDAY Hotels targets the needs of the modern guest, who wants to experience luxury through a carefully selected experience, by fusing modern design and luxury services. OYO strives to ensure that the brand stands out in comparison to the older model of hotel formats by ensuring that customers have an experience of staying in the room and facilitating relaxation and personal service. This Malaysia launch comes after other international rollouts in Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom and Dubai as OYO seeks to build on its global premium collection.
