PepsiCo will be building central Asia’s largest facility in Almaty region. The company is planning to invest more than double its investment in this facility. The project was revealed on May 20, in the meeting between Kazakh Prime Minister Oljas Bektenov and President of PepsiCo for Central Asia David Manzini. The new facility will boost the company’s production significantly. According to the revealed details, the company is planning for processing capacity from 70,000 to 210,000 tons, triple the size of its initial plan. This is expected to generate an annual output of 70,000 tons of finished product.
The company is planning to utilize local raw materials, with Kazakhstan’s farms supplying potatoes. Currently 15 farms from Pavlodar, Akmola, Karagandy, Almaty. And Zhetisu Regions are actively participating in the program. This is expected to expand to complete locality by 2035.
The launch of the first phase project and release of the first batch of Kazakhstan’s products is planned for March 2026. By September 2027, the plant is expected to reach its full capacity.
Olzhas Bektenov stated, “We will fully support such projects aimed at producing finished products with high added value. Government agencies will make all the necessary decisions within two weeks.” Manzini appreciated the government's support for the company.
The project is expected to increase the support for local raw materials and create 900 job opportunities.
