Government and Corporate Partnerships in Skills Training
Solving the skills gap in 2025 at scale requires more than corporate investment—it needs coordinated action between government and industry.
According to the Asian Development Bank, over 70 percent of large-scale skilling programs launched between 2023 and 2024 in Asia were co-designed or co-funded by corporate and government partners.
Foo Mee Har, Singaporean Member of Parliament and Chair of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Education, emphasized: “There must be clear linkages from training courses to skills, to jobs.”
Her advocacy underlines the need to align education and skilling efforts with actual industry demand.
From Samsung’s coding academies in South Korea to Malaysia’s HRDF-backed employer training initiatives, these government and corporate partnerships in skills training are laying the foundation for inclusive and responsive skilling ecosystems.
