VietJet Aviation, Vietnam's biggest low-cost carrier, is set to hire more than 5,000 new staff in Thailand as it pursues its aggressive regional growth strategy.
The recruitment exercise backs VietJet Thailand's efforts to introduce additional direct services to major Asian markets, such as Japan, South Korea, and India, signaling a bold foray into high-demand long-haul routes.
The airline seeks to take advantage of the booming air travel in Southeast Asia by expanding its network and increasing the frequency of flights, a statement from the company late on Wednesday (Aug 6) said.
The hiring drive indicates VietJet's resolve to consolidate its Thai operations as competition heats up in the region.

“The increasing demand for low-cost and convenient overseas travel has created huge opportunities in the Thai market. We are increasing our staff to keep up with the pace of our growth and to further improve service delivery on new routes.” said a VietJet Thailand spokesman

VietJet is among carriers like Thai Airways International and Asia Aviation that have rolled out new routes to accommodate growing demand for travel and ride Thailand's momentum to establish the country as a regional aviation hub.
The government is stepping up the development of infrastructure at major Thai airports in Bangkok, Phuket, and Chiang Mai to increase capacity and draw in international airlines, further solidifying the country as Southeast Asia's travel hub.
