Wipro has signed a deal to buy the Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS) unit of Harman, which is a subsidiary of Samsung, for USD 375 million.
The acquisition is part of Wipro's strategy to boost its engineering research and development (ER&D) services, especially in artificial intelligence (AI)-based digital and device engineering. It is one of Wipro's biggest deals in the ER&D business.
The deal will merge DTS, a US based international ER&D and IT services company, with Wipro's engineering business segment, taking its reach across technology, industrial, aerospace, healthcare, and consumer industries.
"The deal strongly enhances Wipro's ER&D capabilities, bolstering its AI-based digital and device engineering services. Their specialized engineering skill, combined with Wipro's consulting-driven, AI-enabled strength, will substantially increase the value we bring to customers. Together, we will expedite digital innovation, decrease time-to-market, and hone competitive edge." stated Srini Pallia CEO of Wipro.
