China-based AI tech developer CreateAI has unveiled Asia’s largest motion capture Mocap studio at the China Film Group Digital Film Production Base in Beijing.
Spanning 2,000 square meters, the facility is equipped with 130 cutting-edge Vicon VK26 cameras, enabling the real-time capture of complex performances from up to 10 actors simultaneously. Designed as a full-cycle, one-stop production hub, the studio supports high-end film, animation, and AAA video game development. It includes dedicated areas for makeup, props, meetings, and a real-time monitoring control room, significantly streamlining logistics for production teams.
Key Highlights
The launch aligns with booming global demand for high-quality 3D animation and lifelike digital characters. The global motion capture industry is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.12% between 2019 and 2024, reaching a market value of $252.8 million.
CreateAI is leveraging this growth with a strategic focus on AAA game development and cinematic production. The facility will also support research into AI-generated content and precision motion datasets, showcasing CreateAI’s broader commitment to innovation in digital content creation. One of its first major projects is the upcoming game Heroes of Jin Yong.
