Meta’s Southeast Asia Operations will be led by Sandhya Devanathan, as its new head. This move from Meta comes after the exit of Dan Neary, previous head. Devanthan has been appointed as Vice President and Head of Meta India in November 2022. Southeast Asia nations Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam will be led by Devanathan’s leadership.
In 2016 Devanathan joined Meta. Devanathan has more than 22 years of experience in banking, payments, and technology. Before working in Meta, she worked at Standard Chartered Bank and Citi, showcasing her expertise in finance and tech.
Devanathan has previously taken leadership of India, where through her leadership she was able to align Meta’s subsidiaries such as generative AI, the metaverse, Threads, monetization, platform safety and infrastructure with global goals. Meta’s largest market is India with its over one billion monthly users on facebook, Instagram, and whatsapp. Her strategic expansion for the company has made her the leading choice for the leadership role.
Along with India, Devanthan has been successful in driving the Meta’s growth in Singapore, Vietnam and Southeast Asian countries. With Devanathan strategic leadership Meta was able to achieve huge growth within a short period of time, irrespective of India being a test lab for Meta.
Devanathan is known for her qualitative leadership. Her support for gender diversity and inclusion, and promoting initiatives for women in leadership at Meta and in the tech industry has helped in positive business gain.
