Starting July 20, 2025, Shopee Indonesia has introduced a flat order-processing fee of Rp 1,250 (approx. US$0.08) per completed transaction, as announced on Tech in Asia.
This new fee is charged in addition to existing charges like the 8 percent commission and Xtra free shipping contribution—meaning sellers now face multiple charges for each. The revision comes during ongoing adjustments in e-commerce take-rates, where platforms like Shopee have been pushing their limits across Southeast Asia. With this new charge, merchants are raising concerns about eroding margins, especially as they pay commission, transaction, and now order fees.
Key Highlights
This shift signals Shopee's efforts to improve logistics and platform monetization, although it may put pressure on seller profitability. The order fee is relatively small per order but can accumulate considerably for high-volume sellers. Regional benchmarks suggest sellers’ thresholds for fee tolerance hover around 10 percent take-rate, and this latest change may exceed those limits. As Shopee navigates the balance between revenue growth and partner retention, the impact of this new charge will hinge on sellers' ability to absorb it without raising prices or shifting sales channels.
